I've been an avid letter-writer since elementary school, thinking it normal to write long legal-sized letters, and use every square inch of a greeting card to write a note. When I want to express my thoughts, I either grab my laptop or a notepad and pen.
During a dear friend’s life-altering event, I discovered my passion for writing hope-filled long letters, laced with encouraging Scriptures, was evidence that God had given me the gift of encouragement. Although writing the many letters seemed normal to me, my dear friend was surprised that I couldn’t see I had the gift of encouragement.
The Christian blog and website, Words of Hope and Inspiration was created to share that hope with those who need to be encouraged. I am a Christian and I believe the message for today’s world needs to be God’s TRUTH. Because there is power in His Word, it is paramount that Words of Hope and Inspiration’s foundation is based on the unshakable Word of God.
Our world needs the light of God’s Word and folks who are willing to live out His principles. In sharing God’s hope with my dear friend years ago, God so graciously returned the blessings to me whenever I was faced with some of the darkest days of my life.
When you see God’s gracious hand of love and strength guide your life amid desperation, your life is never the same. It was during those dark moments that I asked God to help me to not waste my hurt but to help those who are hurting.
God gave me several “book titles” during those days and as I reach out with Words of Hope and Inspiration, it is my prayer that as I invite my readers to share their stories, that those books will become a reality.
“Beneath the Ashes—walking through the fires with God” and “Doing It Right—keeping family ties tied, even in the midst of adversity”, are two of the titles that came from my experiences. I know there are many hurting people who could share their story to give us encouragement and bring healing to their hurting hearts.
I am a wife, mother, and grandmother, and as of the launching of this blog, the caregiver for my mother, who is 90 and has dementia. Another book that is nestled deep within my heart is “Lord, Help Me—I’m a caregiver”.
There are many of our readers who can also relate to that plea for grace and wisdom. I believe their stories can enrich so many lives and give them the courage to make each day be one of hope. Your stories will be very valuable.
In 2019, my first book was released in my Words of Hope and Inspiration Series; "Glimpses of Glory--remembering the "God-moments" to give us hope and encouragement". These are stories of how God so vividly stepped on the scene and changed my life. We all have "God-moment stories" which make our dark days much brighter as we remember how He never leaves us and how He gives us strength when we feel hopeless.
Music has also been a very important part of my life. I'm amazed how the words of many hymns seem to easily come to my mind when I hear the tunes. Each week, we try to select a meaningful song that has a special message. I'm a firm believer that music with a good message makes our hearts happy!
I love inspirational songs; old hymns and much of the new praise and worship music, however, I'll admit, there aren't many words of the Rhythm and Blues and Motown sounds that I've forgotten either.
The sounds of great shag and beach music have also been favorites. And like Barbara Mandrell's 1985 Country hit song says; "I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool, I too loved many old Country hits as a young child. I just enjoy good music of all kinds!
